Rucha Bharat Golwalkar is a B.Tech. in Electronics Engineering from K. J. Somaiya College of Engineering, Vidyavihar. Her interests include Deep learning and computer vision in Embedded Systems. She is currently working as a Research Assistant at Ninad's Research Lab, Thane, India. She is working on the development of an autonomous DIY bioreactor that can be used to provide controlled conditions to perform bioreactions resulting in the generation of biofuels such as ethanols.
Rucha has worked on several different projects such as a portable digital microscope and automated paper strip reader at the Research Lab. She is also working towards the improvement of an AI laryngoscope. While pursuing her Diploma in Electronics from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute, she developed an ultrasonic blind man stick to alert the blind man in case of an obstacle. She has also worked on developing an automatic plant watering system, IoT-based pollution monitoring system, and a smart bottle for healthcare. Her projects and courses related to Embedded Systems have made her well versed with the programming languages like C, Embedded C, Python, and MATLAB.
Currently, her research work is going on under the guidance of Dr. Mehendale where she has developed deep learning algorithms to recognize faces and detect the age of the people wearing face masks. This research can be very useful in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic where it becomes difficult to recognize masked faces.
